GAMA Grappling Series
Tuesday - April 18th
7:30pm at GAMA
This GGS is for Baltimore BJJ and GAMA members only. We are keeping it small.
What is GAMA Grappling Series?
This particular GGS will be different than usual.
This is a great way get your nerves out!
Rules:
White Belt - straight Foot lock only, falling to the sides of the leg being attacked. No wrist locks. No knee Bars, No Reaping
Blue Belt - Add knee bars, add wrist locks, No reaping
Purple Belt and Up - Add reaping, add heel hooks, add toe holds
All - No spine twisting, no slamming, no perfect plexes, probably more stuff, but we will talk about it at the event.
- Every once in a while we get all of the academies in the affiliation and run some practice matches.
- We also allow people to practice being a referee.
- It is very laid back, and not serious at all! The refs are going to make plenty of mistakes, and it doesn't matter if you win or lose. It's just a scrimmage, and chance to practice some of the things you've been working on before jumping into a tournament with your new skill set.
This particular GGS will be different than usual.
- No Gi
- No age or belt divisions - everyone is bracketed together.
- Each match will follow the rules of the lower belted 'competitor'.
- Three weight categories for Female and three weight categories for male.
- Under 165
- 165-189
- 190 and Over
- We are not doing weigh-ins, and will be taking your word for it. If we suspect foul play, we will weigh you, and you will have to do 50 pull ups if caught cheating. As long as it takes. However, if the person that called you out is wrong, he/she will have to do 50 pull ups.
- We will set up brackets like a real tournament, and run one division at a time.
