12/28/20 - GAMA COVID Update

Grapple Academy requires all members to follow CDC guidelines:
CDC links:
When Can I Be Around Others
When To Quarantine

Rules for those who have tested positive, come in contact with, or live with someone COVID positive.

1. If you have Tested Positive:

-  According to CDC, you can be around others after: 10 days since symptoms first appeared and 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving.

- Being that classes are close contact, MEMBERS must present a negative COVID test if they tested positive, or wait an additional 10 days for a total of 20 days. To some, this seems extreme, but people have tested positive for over 30 days, and other members do not want to train with someone who is actively COVID Positive. This is not a CDC Guideline, but a GAMA Rule. I (Coach Greg) personally do not want to train with someone until they test negative, or give it extra time.

2. If you were exposed to someone directly with COVID
:

- According to CDC,
anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 should stay home for 14 days after their last exposure to that person.

- An alternative according to the CDC is, you can be around others AFTER day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)

3. If someone you live with has tested positive for COVID:

- If you get tested and it is positive, please follow Rule 1.

- If you choose not to get tested, then please follow rule 2. This means, do not come in the building for 14 days after your last exposure to the person once that person has completed his/her 10 day quarantine.

- Your other option is to get tested after his/her 10 day quarantine.

Quick Summary - Please DO NOT come in the building if you have been directly exposed to someone with COVID until 14 days after your last contact with that person and you have not displayed any signs of illness, or have tested negative (after last exposure to that person).

I know it can get a little confusing, but it is extremely important for our academy to take these precautions in order to stay open.

I keep hearing people say that if you are high risk to stay home. This may be the case, but some instructors live with people who are high risk, including myself (Coach Greg). If we don't follow these guidelines, then the academy will be forced to shut down due to lack of instructors.

I want to thank everyone who has stepped up and worked with us during these restrictions, including those who have disagreed with my decisions and actions and have still continued to support!  It is not easy running a business at 25% capacity when we have to pay 100% of the bills each month. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU !!!
-Coach Greg

"Can't say enough about GAMA. Besides being one of the friendliest gyms I've been in, it's kept super clean. The owner, Greg, is a down right GOOD guy, that is always thinking of new ways to reach his students and keep the classes fresh and interesting. Proud to say that not only I am, but my 4 year old son also is apart of GAMA." Thanks!!
